Converting HD DVD to Compliant AVCHD

Hey all,
For my Blu Ray's i'm finding BD Rebuilder is now becoming a very stable solution for producing compliant movie only AVCHD output which plays on all my kit. I now want to do the same with my HD DVD's but of course BD Rebuilder currently only accepts Blu Ray structure as source. I'm considering the following options -

1. Use the "Join" feature on tsmuxer and create a Blu-ray output to feed into BD Rebuilder. I'm reading quite a few posts suggesting this is prone to problems with audio sync. I just tried one and I got no sound at all!

2. As with 1, but straight to AVCHD - again, not sure about how reliable this is.

3. Use multiAVCHD to either build a Blu Ray feed for BD Rebuilder or straight to AVCHD. I'm not very familiar with this tool and have only just started a few trials.

Anyone found a reliable method for achieving this? Again, I only want movie only, preferably with the original chapter points and non essential audio and sub streams strpped out.

It's been quite a while since I last did any HD-DVD to Blu-ray conversions but, I've had no such asynch problems using "Method 1" - but using multiAVCHD instead of BD-Rebuilder.

After initially joining via tsMuxeR (before using BD-Rebuilder), have you played the joined files to see if they're in synch?

I have been unable to get a single successful output using the Join option on TSMuxer. The video output is fine but there is no audio present. :mad:I'm now giving Clown BD a go.

For joining .m2ts files successfully with tsmuxer the individual files should have the same multiplexed structure, i.e. same number and type of audio tracks and same number and type of .sup tracks. Otherwise surprises like missing tracks or timely shifted subtitles may result.
Still there can be audio sync issues with the final concatenated result and manual corrections may be needed.

Is there "no audio present", or simply "no audio playing back"?

If you close tsMuxeR and then reopen it and load the joined and converted files into tsMuxeR, does it indicate an audiostream as well as videostream, or only a videostream?

BTW, what are you using for playback?

Post #1, scroll down to "HD-DVD > BLU-RAY". I do this often, and the only caveat is to make sure to specify the language of the audio when remuxing, otherwise your settings in BD-RB might leave you with no audio if you're not paying attention. Also, you have to strip the generated chapters file of the chapter titles and everything else but the times, then manually copy and paste into tsMuxer on the appropriate tab--it's easy to find.
