I'm trying to output a Premiere CS5 project to x264 and trying to do it the most direct way, using x264vfw. Yes I am using the 64 bit version.
I can load the encoder and set options etc but upon starting encoding, Premiere sits at 0% and will not cancel, freezing and requiring process termination.
Does it for all encoder settings I tried, 1 pass / 2 pass / lossless etc.
I have found nothing on Doom9 and Google returns a frustrating collection of muppets wondering why the 32 bit version doesn't show up in CS5.
Is this a known issue, it dinna wirk Captain, or what am I doing wrong?

Well with regards to you using post processing in your other thread.
I would simply output from premiere to a lossless format that works.
And then input that to the x264cli to do a quick 2 pass encode.
That way your only doing a slow encode on the one post processed encode from premiere, and it solves the problem of using vfw.

I can use Lagarith but I get a 800 MB file for a 90 second 640x480 video in the case of that other thread. Of course this is how I'm using x264 at the moment; no choice.
However I'm also working on a 1080p project that's about 30 minutes long. I'm not sure going via a lossless intermediary is going to be practical in that case.

CS5 is 64-bit. Apparently a x64 version of DebugMode FS is being worked on but it's not happened yet. Some monkey business regarding a programmer having being contracted (paid) to do a variant and it's not been publicly released. AviSynth seems dead and a non-starter, so I don't think frame serving is currently an option at all?

AviSynth isn't actively developed, currently, but that doesn't make it dead as a tool. Both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions are stable enough and a huge number of people use them for most of their encoding jobs.

According to some information from Russian video web forums, the current beta version is available for payment participants only. Also they declared that after release they will distribute it freely. So let's wait this happy day, I hope it will come;).
PS: People also talking that current beta is working well and stable already.
