Hi,
I have a Panasonic DMC-TZ10 camera. It uses the AVCHD Lite format to store data on the SD memory card. According to Wikipedia, this format is close to the one of blu-ray discs.
Meta-data associated to video clips are stored in .MPL files in the /PRIVATE/AVCHD/BDMV/PLAYLIST directory.
There are data such as date/time of the video, device settings, exposure parameters, gps info, etc.
I'm looking for a tool able to extract those meta-data.
Do you know a tool to manage the AVCHD format?
Regards

have you tried EAC3TO (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=125966)?

have you tried EAC3TO (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=125966)?
Thank you for this advice.
However, I can't figure out how to get meta-data.
I only get error messages:
"HD DVD / Blue-Ray disk structure not found". or
"The format of the source file could not be detected."
Does eac3to really knows how to decode PLAYLIST files?
Regards
Christophe

Hi!
Have you tried dragging and dropping the .MPL onto "tsMuxeR"?

Hey Guys ...
"MPL" might not be the same as "MPLS".
eac3to was never created to read such metadata, so it will never function whith this program.
You might extract the video with it, but you will never be able to get those metadata, because normal Blurays does not contain them.

@mbcd
Hi!"MPL" might not be the same as "MPLS".Actually, it is. It's just that AVCHD format requires "8.3" filename structure...

Have you tried dragging and dropping the .MPL onto "tsMuxeR"?
Yes. tsMuxeR is able to read an MPL file and list video clips referenced in it.
However it does not display meta-data associated with each video clip (and presents in the MPL file).

Doesn't it show the metadata in the bottom "Metadata" window?

Maybe you can try this one here ...

The metadata/datacode items appear on each line in the following order:
* File Progress Timecode - effectively the location within the file
* Timecode
* User Bits
* Recording Date
* Recording Time
* Shutter Speed
* Iris (f-stop)
* Image Stabiliser on or off
* Gain in dB
* Auto-Exposure mode
* White Balance
* Focus Distance in metres
* Focus Mode
For DV file types, this is followed by:
* Audio Sampling Frequency
* Audio Locked/Unlocked
and for AVCHD and MPEG-2 PS files is followed by these GPS Geotagging items:
* GPS Latitude - in degrees, minutes and seconds N or S
* GPS Longitude - in degrees, minutes and seconds E or W
* GPS Altitude - height above sea level in metres
* GPS Speed - speed of camera's motion
* GPS Speed Units - km/h, miles/h or knots
* GPS Track - direction of camera's motion in degrees
* GPS Track Ref - True or Magnetic

Here is the content of the bottom "Meta file" window (not very useful ;-) ):

You're correct. Although tsMuxeR does provide metadata, it's obviously not displaying the information you're seeking. Sorry...

Promising!
However: "This feature is only available in the FULL version of DVMP Pro."
:-(
I won't by it just for that!

The extraction is only in the full version. The metadata can still be displayed on screen tho.

The extraction is only in the full version. The metadata can still be displayed on screen tho.Really?
How to do that?
The "File > Properties" window gives only info about codecs...
