View Full Version : a hope for dts-ma decoding?

I still get 16bits with TMT3. I checked wbits per sample and it said 16bits for a DTS-ES file that is 24bits in MediaInfo and I know for sure since I encoded it myself from the DTS-HD MA file.

You do know that manipulating the audio with ReClock reduces the quality right? Timestretching/ changing the audio frequency is messing with the audio. As far as TMT3 goes I'm still unsure how you know it is outputting 24bit audio.
This is the primary use of ReClock. However you can lock the speed and clock rate to get bit-perfect playback of audio without any resampling or Windows Mixer interference when using Kernal Streaming or WASAPI audio output.

The decoder from TMT 3.0.1.160 always connected to ReClock with 24-bit PCM. But it doesn't work anymore since I used your installer. I tried to put the old files back but your installation is still there and active.
Can you make a proper uninstaller for your installer please? (I don't want to disassemble your installer and search for every single files one-by-one.)
But I am confused. Why did they break the 24-bit support with TMT5 codecs? Is it possible that TMT 2/3 codecs don't really decode the full lossless track but they connect with 24-bit PCM all the time (no matter if they decode only 16-bit data)?

I think you need to re-install ReClock after an install of PowerDVD or TMT for it to work again.
TMT2 .125 and TMT3 .185 most definately output proper 24bit. The whole reason the Arcosft DTS decoder started being used with EAC3TO is because somebody compared decoded DTS-MA wave output against an original and realised they were the same. Not only do they output 24 bit depth, but also unmolested sample rate as well assuming you have a high definition audio source with a greater sample rate than 48khz such as some Music titles.

No, the problem is something else. I can see the new TMT5 control panel right now after I reinstalled the TMT3 codecs. The files from dansrfe's pack are still there... somewhere...

TMT3 does not output 24bit from a non-ReClock setup. I have tried TMT2, TMT3, and TMT5. All of them act the same (TMT2 needs additional MSVC support). Somebody show me a screenshot that says 24bit from the wbits per sample from the DirectSound Renderer in MPC-HC. I can pretty much guarantee that the almight ReClock is upsampling the audio to 24bit based on individual output settings. The only way I can see ArcSoft giving bit-perfect results is by some pseudo-implementation of what eac3to does in regular .ax decoder form.

Don't do this because it will make me mad!
I know, nobody will believe me now when I can't prove it... But it really worked for me! It worked fine until I ran your installer. Since then I tried to reconstruct the old state but I can't. There is no 24-bit output anymore.

Here is what I use: arcdec185 (http://www.mediafire.com/?ux6p2z7nb72dopx) (Archive password: doom9) I don't take any credits for stolen shłt, but the batch files were created by bobdynlan. (Thanks!)
It contains every decoders. Some of them can be useful too, the video decoder is very flexible (DXVA 1/2, CUDA, StreamSDK, support, etc).
Run the Put_TMT2 to get the TMT2 files and optionally run the Put_TMT3 to update the filters to TMT3 versions.

i got a real problem with 24bit here to... if i check ArcSoft audio decoder hd or reclock it says 16bit but if i enable "32 bit integer" (and 24bit is always enabled) in ffdshow output i get 32bit in reclock but i have NEVER seen it show 24bit if if ffdshow is set enabled for 24bit in and out. and yes this time it is a 96/24bit source.

It is, FFDShow audio post processes audio in 16bit int,32bit int and 32bit FP only - not 24bit, so to get 24bit output from FFDshow, you need to select 32bit audio.

i have not tested the dansrfe uninstaller. but i removed the files from syswow64 and dts-ma decoding stopped to work so i restarted then installed 185 again and it worked in every other aspect. (wasapi and so on.)
I thought that I removed them manually but I missed one little bastard which caused the trouble.
So, I suggest you to do this:
- Use dansrfe's uninstaller. (No matter if you think you deleted every files, just do it!)
- Use the uninstaller from "my" package (Again, just do it!)
- Use the Put_TMT2 and Put_TMT3 from "my" package. (In this order.)
And I forgot to include a batch file to re-register your actual filter (may be necessary to work until all those uninstalls...).
Place a whatever.bat file in your */Program Files (x86)/Common files/Arcsoft/MPEG Engine, and fill it with these lines and run it:
@echo off
if not exist ASAudioHD.ax goto no_codec
echo ASAudioHD.ax found.
echo Unregistering ASAudioHD.
regsvr32 /u /s ASAudioHD.ax
echo Registering ASAudioHD.
regsvr32 ASAudioHD.ax
echo Done.
goto end
:no_codec
echo ASAudioHD.ax was not found!
:end
Check the filters in MPC-HC (make sure you use 24-bit source but it shouldn't really matter, it always connects with 24-bit for me). Arcsoft should output 24-bit now.
I think you should use ReClock to downmix the channels, it can do it just fine.

oh and another thing.... over att slysoft (reclock) there is a installation warning...
Note:
* ReClock must be installed *after* PowerDVD or Arcsoft TMT 3/TMT 5
* Whenever PowerDVD or Arcsoft TMT 3/ TMT 5 is updated or reinstalled, ReClock must be reinstalled
* ReClock replaces the ASAudioRenderer.dll in the TMT 3/ TMT 5 Codec directory. A backup ASAudioRenderer_bak.dll will be created. Do not delete this file, it is required!
is that just for usage inside the program TMT3/TMT5? or is this important for us?

its 3 in the morning here but about my 24bit problem before it was just me.... the audio was 16bit but i believe it was 24bit.... so it was just me... sorry.. :P
but i have now tested: DTS-MA: works, LPCM: works, AC3: works.
the only thing left for me to be 100% happy about my htpc would be that madVR would be able to handle DVD's...
Hi,
I have similar setup like you, but dont use Haali ( will explain why ), but the new LAVFsplitter. I have 99percent of all videos in m2ts container.
Now, what works in lavfsplitter/arcsoft/madvr/wasapi/reclock 24bit mode is:
VC-1 + DTS-HD or TrueHD or DTS or AC3
H.264 +DTS-HD or TrueHD or DTS or AC3
For example I have a VC-1 video with one DTS-HD stream.
Reclock info:
23.976 fps, 1920x1080p, YV12 12 bits
48000 Hz, 6 channel(s), 24 bits PCM
Video: madVideoRenderer
Audio: WASAPI excl.
Arcsoft Pin info (I assume its showing correctly) gives this:
Pin: Audio
- Connection media type:
Audio: DTS 48000Hz 6ch 1536kbps
And then when I look into Reclock Pin info table I see:
Pin: Out
- Connection media type:
Audio: WAVE_FORMAT_EXTENSIBLE 48000Hz 6ch 6912kbps
Bugs of LAVFsplitter in madvr mode, which I experience:
- using LAVFsplitter, if m2ts does have PGS subtitles, it causes crashing of MPC-HC at startup ( confirmed also in evr cp mode )
- seekbar remaining time bug ( will have to find out if its a ffmpeg issue in ffdshow video dec or its a splitter bug, I think splitter ). Movie simply does not show correct lenght in the seekbar ( only first minutes or so, then continues ). Internal MPC-HC splitter shows correct lenght/remaining time at its seekbar.
- LPCM audio streams ( can not find out how to connect them to the Arcsoft decoder ) -LAVsplitter does not connect them to Arcsoft HD audio decoder, ffdshow audio decoder steps in, but the result is diginoise and reclock changes automaticly to directsound ( because its in wasapi mode and ffdshow does not work in wasapi 24bit output decoding mode as Arcsoft can provide ). Using internal MPC-HC splitter - ffdshow audio steps in, but the result is downpitched sound with interruptions ( can someone help me with this? )
2 questions:
- how can you see DTS HD MA using Haali splitter, when Haali as a splitter can not see DTS-HD at all?
- you mentioned LPCM, how did you manage ( using whatever splitter ) to get connect the LPCM audio stream to Arcsoft decoder and output in 24bit mode with full bitrate?
Thanks

I don't use their renderer but their decoder(s) only. I didn't need to reinstall ReClock when I reinstalled the decoders today.
I think ReClock sabotage the ArcSoft renderer so he can step on it's place.

This is all bs. The point of ArcSoft or the reason why everyone wants to use it is for one simple reason. To decode the audio as is, without alteration. After that whatever it goes to should be the decision of the user. madshi needs to release his algorithm that controls ArcSoft to decode the audio as is for eac3to, without manipulation.

Well using the arcdec185.7z and the hex editing of mpc-hc, I can use arcsoft hd audio to decode dts-hd :) My only query is, when checking the pin info for arcsoft audio decoder while mpc-hc is playing, the Pin In says
Audio: DTS 48000Hz 6ch 1509kbps
while the pin out says
Audio: PCM 48000Hz stereo 1536kbps
But ffdshow and reclock which come after it both say 48000 Hz, 6 channel, 24bit. Is the pin out info of the arcsoft decoder wrong? The decoders gui shows 16bit selected from a combo box, yet it is outputting 24bit according to ffdshow / reclock..

I simply don't know advanced batch scripting. You do so good for you and everyone else trying to get this done. The rights reserved part is just so ArcSoft doesn't come after me for redistributing their dlls. I could care less about the patcher code. But nice job on your patcher and I will be studying it to learn more about the power of batch scripting! :)

Thanks for your comment on a 'hacked bastard set up'. Really appreciate it. And no libavcodec will not support DTS-HD MA decoding for a very long time I presume.

You took my rather harsh, evil comments like I would, I am very impressed :) And yes, that's the reason I've made it, maybe one will find some bits useful. I do appreciate the sarcasm, because I am not a script guru, too. No one is born with knowledge, you gain that from others as a starting point. Then you might create something seen as original, but if you don't share it and you keep it to yourself, you're wasting it.

Hi, When using the arcsoft decoder, mpc-hc very rarely shuts down gracefully. I often have to kill it using task manager, in order to allow me to successfully start up another movie. Does anyone know why this is the case? Apart from this I'm very happy with using arcsofts decoder for dts-ma.

I find mpc-hc shuts down but I can often see eg reclock and ffdshow icons still in the taskbar so its not closing down as it does with other filters. This only happens when I watch a movie that'll utilize the arcsoft decoder, eg one with dts-ma in it. I'm wondering when closing down / destroying the graph, does the arcsoft decoder have a non standard way of closing that mpc can't handle? Just a guess, I really don't know.
Thank you bobdynlan for your bat file :). Works perfectly here for me once I use the correct .ax and checkactivate file. Only change I made was to set the win.ini piece of the code to use 1 for dynamic range so as to keep things as close to the original sound as psosible.
Is it true that this .126 version is the only version that outputs full hd audio over analog?

I have been use both of them and .125 and tmt3 decoder...
Reclock only says 24bit at .125....through analog...16bit with everything else...
E.G Sorry for the version it is .125 the right one...

TMT3 .185 is working perfectly for me. 24-bit, 7.1, 96khz, all come out fine, if the source has those =)

For me its HDMI, but its decoded to PCM, so it should output that over analog as well.

No...it doesn't...
It will deliver it downsampled....through analog.
I have used tmt3 with .185 and it didn't deliver pure 24bit....

You know, in analog, there are no bits anymore. If your audio renderer receives 24-bit (ReClock in my case), thats all you can ask for.

I know but that it has nothing to do with the case here...
After .125 from tmt2, arcsoft downsampled every audio from their software.....
Except the digital connections, which uses the tunnel and deliver bitstream audio from one end to the other...Everything else were ruined...

Although it may never happen, I really would like to see libavcodec get DTS MA decoding support...

No not true, TMT 3 .185 happily outputs 24bit over analog for DTS honest (but not in TMT, you need to use it in Direct Show with Shard's unlocker).

You mean DTS-MA.....
Can you explain what is this unlocker??

You mean DTS-MA.....
All DTS types + extensions (DTS,HR,MA,96/24) are output at 24bit and 96khz where applicable
Can you explain what is this unlocker??

iv noticed that .185 has problems with decoding dts mono and 16 bit dts stereo.
do the other versions have this problem as well?
edit: hey you guys, made an interesting discovery.
I'm using everything from tmt 3 .185, except the dtsdecoderdll.dll, which is from TotalMedia Theatre 5.0.1.87.
Now the decoder outputs 16/24 bit pcm properly, depending on the source material, and has no problems with mono or stereo anymore.
I have to say, you all should give it a try.
edit2: Actually, 6 channel material appears to always output in 24 bit still for some reason. But when there are different numbers of channels present, it seems it will intelligently select the output bit depth.
