I know that its HE-AAC but is there any way of getting this file to play back in my preferred media player of choice SPlayer?

You'll probably improve your chances of getting a response if you upload a short sample (15 secs or so) to a file hosting service and post the link here.

Id be very grateful of any help ive been tearing my hair out trying to get captures to play in MPC-HC or SPlayer. Ive tried installing Libfaad and Monograms AAC decoder but i think its something to do with the splitter, if i play the files back using DVBViewer i get video and sound using the DVBSource filter/splitter but i cant make this work in MPC-HC or Splayer.

No audio in MPC-HC here either, even with the latest LAVFSplitter beta, which is working with most other LATM streams (at least 2 channel HE-AAC streams from other countries) when paired with Monogram AAC decoder. Like you say DVBViewer + Monogram (and VLC) works.

I suspect a splitter issue as well since DVBViewer works, so maybe nevcairel can tweak LAVFSplitter for these streams, if you post a message in the LAVFSplitter thread here on Doom9 or a bug report on his github bug tracker along with a sample.

There are still some other issues with TS files in LAVFSplitter (like duration with some files), and I thinks he's focusing on other stuff (Media Foundation etc.) at the moment, but at least there is a chance it may get fixed at some point if you let him know about the issue. As far as I know there are no other free DirectShow splitters that are working in all players that support LATM/LOAS, but I may be wrong.

Mirillis Splash Lite http://mirillis.com/en/products/splash.html plays the file out of the box.

You may try to remux the file anew (using tsremux or tsmuxer or any similar tool).

You can't dump the audio to MP4 with VLC?

For information about AAC LATM/LOAS See here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1463484) and here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=140570).

Interestingly, the AVC video in your Star Wars is "progressive"

Try different recording software. I know some else was able to record DVB-T2 using TV Scheduler Pro.

Hmm, it seems I managed to do it. But I don't know for sure if VLC is simply re-encoding the audio.

You can't dump the audio to MP4 with VLC?I tried it with "v1.1.5 The Luggage" and it worked fine for me too!

So did loading the entire Star Wars .TS sample and re-muxing to .TS

Must be something wrong with my decoders then because no matter what i do i cant get audio playing.

You're just going to have to wait for ffmpeg's latm demuxer to find it's way into various programs.

Interestingly, the AVC video in your Star Wars is "progressive"

This is commonplace these days.

Must be something wrong with my decoders then because no matter what i do i cant get audio playing. As long as LATM/LOAS encapsulation has been removed from the AAC stream (which VLC player can do), any AAC decoder should be able to play the stream.

Thankfully, all my Xtreamer hardware players have no problems playing the Star Wars source you provided ;)

Not using Splayer here, but as of today it can be played in MPC-HC using LAVFSplitter + LAVCAudio, so I'd say chances are good now. :)

it works with Cyberlinks Demuxer 2.0 and Audio Decoder
