View Full Version : No directshow source decoder for audio

I'm using HDConvertToX and I checked "force directshowsource as decoder" to decode audio. It seems that I don't have a direct show source decoder attached to my system, because the output file is just silence. It knows how long the audio stream is, but it can't seem to decode it. Eac3to can decode it, but it seems they're using their own decoder, and I don't want to use it because the sound is shifted to the left channel (leaving the right channel trebleless)

I have the latest ffdshow installed, and I can decode perfectly using MPC-HC. How do I attach a decoder to directshowsource?

I'm running Windows 7 32 bit.

Thanks.

What kind of audio are you speaking of? You're being quite vague here :)

Here's what I can glean so far:

1) You're trying to use HDConvertToX to backup a BluRay or HD-DVD
2) Your output contains no audio
3) eac3to can extract audio from your source, but it's shifted to the left channel, and there are no high frequencies on the right

Please post mediainfo and eac3to dumps from your source and output. Also, which title are we discussing?

Also, make sure you're using the latest eac3to.

I don't know how to get a eac3to dump, but it doesn't matter, as I've given up on that software.

Before I didn't notice the lack of high frequency on the right channel issue from eac3to (even on the latest version), but Home has a unique (and annoying) high frequency hiss whenever the narrator speaks, and this made the lack of high frequency issue really obvious on earphones.

I know by using direct show source as the audio decoder on HDC works, because it works on one of my computer, but it doesn't work on my other computer.

Your interpretation is correct. Sorry for being vague. There is output when using direct show source, but it is a long silence.
