Quick background:
zerolatency was introduced to the world almost a year ago in the awesome blog post (http://x264dev.multimedia.cx/archives/249) by Dark Shikari. Click here (http://mewiki.project357.com/wiki/X264_Encoding_Suggestions#Encoder_latency) to see what this tuning preset does.
My question is what platform/distro & hardware should one choose to get the lowest latency. Target kbps would be below 2,000 as that seems to be the limit for most cable internet plans. 720P would be nice, but thats secondary to low latency. This would be an audio/video stream, so any suggestions for audio would be helpful. Also does any of the following software have some easy presets for low latency encoding: ffmpeg, videolan, gstreamer? Or does one need to do something else? 10ms latency @ 800x600 sounds quite sexy; wondering the best way to get similar results for a muxed A/V stream. Container formats & playback setup would be good things to know as well.
Other Notes:
http://doom10.org/index.php?topic=733.msg4594#msg4594 - In my case this is a small hobby/project.
