i use a seagate freeagent external harddrive for my xvid files. i connect it with a splitter cable - one end plugs to dvd player, the other has a plug on the end, (the dvd player doesnt have enough power to handle the portabe drive)
it seems a 700 meg file handles ok, no disruption, occasional pops but put that down to the rip.
if i have a larger file, maybe 900-1400meg it really struggles with any scenes with fast action.
any one know if this is:
1) down to the file size and the dvd players capabilities of reading the data quick enough?
2)the dvd player is on its way out?
3) the portable drive is reading the data too slow?
4) is it down to the portable drive using its own power and some of the dvd players power to run?
5) something else?
looking for help, nearly threw the dvd player out the window last night
(1st post in over 2 years :) - usually read the forums and get my help / info, not this time though)
