MeGui: Problem with extracted AAC Source

I am working on Windows 7. I use MKV Extract. When I re-encode the extracted AAC file to AAC, the resultant file has no sound. I have previously encoded an MP3 with Nero AAC, and that worked fine. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong or what setting I have wrong.

Edit: As far as I've seen, I am having this problem with .avs and .aac files in general. Also, I'm getting the same result no matter which format I encode to (I tried AC3 and still no working sound).

Try checking "Force Decoding via DirectShow".
Upload your source file to www.mediafire.com so that other members can see if they can replicate the error.:)

Please put the log file and/or a MediaInfo of your extracted AAC.

Try checking "Force Decoding via DirectShow".
Not needed because MeGUI uses always DirectShowSource for aac files.

Also, if it helps shed any light, before I unpacked the MeGui files, I had installed: Quicktime Player, Realplayer, SUPER, VLC Player, and WMP Playback Pack, in that order.

Sorry, but I can't help you with SUPER installed.
Maybe you need reinstall Windows.

The glc.aac play OK?
If play ok and when you recode obtain no sound seems you have your DirecShow system broken.

Since you installed SUPER, your codec filters registry are probably messed up.
You'll need to get rid of SUPER and WMP playback pack.
Folks here recommend using ffdshow+haali media splitter.

Personally I feel that you can try installing k-lite codec pack after you uninstalled what I have mentioned as during the installation it actually prompts you to "fix" codec filters registry.

In the worst case scenario you will have to reinstall windows like what tebasuna51 mentioned.

Hmmm, despite this forum's feelings toward SUPER, it did not give me this problem on Windows XP or even Vista. As for WMP Playback Pack, I had actually installed it after I discovered the problem. In fact, the only thing that sets Windows 7 apart from XP and Vista, is that Windows 7 had a packet of codecs pre-installed by Microsoft. Is it possible for me to uninstall the Windows Codec Pack?

Not that I know of.
You can try using Win7DSFilterTweaker to set the decoder for AAC to ffdshow, that should fix your problems.:)

It fixed mine when I was using Windows 7 32bit some time ago.

Thank you so much for the tweaker, it worked like a charm :) . But seriously, Microsoft always has to be a pain in our asses one way or another, don't they O_o ?
