I´ve been playing around with both flask and xmpeg and what I really need info on is which idct and filter to use to get max quality and speed. I´m using the lates version of Xmpeg 4.2a (I think) and encode in divx4 using 2 pass vbr. I have been able to encode pretty high quality movies but the fps has been slow around 7-9 on a dual PIII 900. I need to find out how I balance quality and speed for optimal results and fastest encoding time.

Any information on the subject would help me greatly. :)

In the filters options, to archive the best quality you should use bicubic. In IDT i'm not sure which the best option, but in my last rips i used Miha's Reference IDT and i got good results.

No, for filtering, you should use Bressingham because its more efficient and yields better quality.

for iDCT, just let it auto select, none is proven better than the other.
