i'm looking for mpc-hc alternative for mac os x:

native.
quicktime component support.
dvd, vcd support.

VLC Media Player is always a good choice on all operating systems, although I'm not too familiar what other media players are available on the mac platform.

I always recommend VLC for my less tech-savvy friends, it's easy to use and plays everything you throw at it out of the box. :)

I'd highly recommend Movist. In terms of simplicity and stability, it felt the closest for me to MPC-HC on the OS X platform. You can choose between using ffmpeg or quicktime codecs for your video files.
