i just encoded a movie but retained the original surround sound ac3 soundtrack instead of mp3, and i find that the movie renders more slowly with ac3 audio. it's not a great difference but when the camera is panning it is noticeable - the camera shifts slightly rather than the perfectly fluid motion i normally see.

i am using powerdivx to play the movie, and the system is a 1.4ghz athlon with 256mb ram and windows 2000 so there shouldn't be a system performance issue. the movie is encoded in divx4 using gordian knot.

any ideas?

I've seen this problem numerous times as well. Currently I'm playing around with interleaving @ 2,3 or even 4 frames instead of 1. Try some different values when you mux and see what happens.

i think you have tried the "soundblaster values" 64 or 96 ms ? ;)

AC3 and DivX are both CPU demanding. Make sure you have nothing in the background. Have you defragmented you hard drive recently? :)

I heard that DivX plays well on low-end computers if the DivX has mono CBR MP3/WMA sound. And yes, interleaving values might aslo help.

it's not going to be a system problem...look at my original post

i'll try those interleaving values tho, thanx :)
