i have apure NTSC - Interlaced (4:3) source and it seems to be very compressible, but GKnot, when i enter a 700mb - 1CD, calculate a bitrate of 924kbps at a 512x304 (wich i think its to small) -> and this is the only resolution to get 0.203 Bits/(pixel*frame)

how can i increase the resolution and lower the bitrate? (trying to keep the bits/pixel-frame?

thansk!!!

try to do a compressability check before you encode. by doing so it will give a range of res but stay within the specs or your movie will be crappy. i usually stay between 40 to 45%.

thanks superflex
but what i was wondering is there if its possible to increase the resolution and lower the bitrate
like if there was a feature that when you increase your resolution you automaticaly lower your bitrate (keeping the bits/frame-pixel) with a limitation of 665kbps (than you affect the bits/frame-pixel)
idont know if im expressing myself very well, but...
what i wanna know is if you can lower a bit the bitrate (keeping the filesize) to make possible to increase the resolution
:)

Decreasing/Increasing resolution does not have a predictable effect on filesize, so there is no option for it. Increasing resolution always increases filsize, but it can't be calculated how much beforehand. You'll just have to look for what you want with trial & error.

Movies encoded in higher resolutions are only good if you keep the quality - that means you need a higher bitrate and probably one CD more.

There are already too many movies out there with a 720xXXX resolution and a crappy quality - please don't add to that!!! If want to do a one-cd rip, you need to make compromises, and a lower resolution might look much better in the end than a blocky, crappy 720xXXX resolution
