It's been a while since I got my hands dirty with ripping, decrypting and I must admit I've fallen of the waggon. This x-mas I'm planning to get started again with bluray discs.

I'm very familiar with all of the usual DVD ripping stuff. Region free RPC-1 firmware hacks and Region reset counter patches. But when it comes to bluray hardware I'm clueless. I've understood that bluray region coding is handled by the mediaplayer and not the hardware. Is that true?

Can anyone suggest a cheap but competent bluray reader (or burner) that will handle all types of DVDs and all types of bluray discs. (After proper firmware installation of cause  )
