View Full Version : VOB files without video? What software will ignore this?

I have a DVD-A (I believe is the format my friend said) that he ripped for me. It came with 3 VOB files. The first works beautifully in 5.1. The second and third files don't seem to have any video data and therefore I am having a problem demuxing them. Unfortunately, he lives in Germany, so running over there to grab another copy is all but impossible.

Is there any software out there that will "ignore" the lack of video so I can break it down to 4 waves as I did the first VOB file?

TIA

Try DGIndex. Open all the VOBs and File->Save Project. It'll demux the audio by default.

First program I tried. I get the error: No Video Sequence Header Found

Since a moderator has already responded, I'll put in "my two cents":

Are you sure the two additional files aren't supposed to be ".AOB" files (DVD-A AUDIO FILES)?

I had considered that as well. However, I never really have found a program that opens AOB properly that I can recall. I have tried soooo many applications over the past month or so.

Applications such as DVD Audio Explorer or SHAPlay, and perhaps even the DVD-A plugin for foobar2000, may require all of the files from the DVD-A volume (meaning AUDIO_TS.IFO and other IFOs) to properly decrypt and play or transcode the DVD-A audio.

Thank you... after reading up more on Foobar2000, I noticed they want you to open the AOBs using the IFO files. However, my dear friend tried saving "clutter" and space by giving me just the files he thought I needed.

Oh well, looks like I might need to make a road trip... or ehrr... boat trip?

Oh well, looks like I might need to make a road trip... or ehrr... boat trip?It would be less expensive and more appropriate to simply purchase the DVD-A...

I was joking, but yes, I have been debating the purchase of a DVD-A or SACD player for some time now. I am much more interested in converting old quad albums to a format that my newer equipment can handle though.

Bought a Sansui reel to reel and been shopping for quad albums to convert. Already have a sound card that has 4 channel inputs and Sony Vegas, so the media is the last thing I need. This album was just something to "play with" while I shop around. I'm absolutely amazed with what I have heard in Quad already and have only heard 3 albums.
