Is anyone here a (senior) member, moderator, super moderator over at forum.blu-ray.com ?

They banned me and blacklisted my fixed IP address as a 'spammer', after making only 4 posts. I'd like someone to to appeal on my behalf and have this revoked. I can't even access the site anymore, never mind log on to contact them myself.

I was PMing moderator Beta Man (http://forum.blu-ray.com/member.php?u=21361) who activated me to post only last night. This morning, bam. These are my 'spam posts' (not):

Truly bizarre. I've heard that people have been banned from that forum simply for disagreeing with people and didn't believe it, but this is odd. Perhaps they saw the amount of numbers in your username and assumed it was computer generated?

I imagined that it was my signature (the same as this one), as it has links to the Slysoft forum. I read the rules, and didn't see that it wasn't allowed to have a link.

I guess it was pro-bassoonist (http://forum.blu-ray.com/member.php?u=10022) that did the banning as he was the last one to visit my 'profile (http://forum.blu-ray.com/member.php?u=129688)' page there.

In my opinion that forum is not friendly towards Blu-ray backup software or people who post about making personal fair use backups. It could be possible they banned you because you are the author of Clown BD or more likely it was the link to Slysoft.

Edit: Reworded post.

blu-ray.com forum is weird. I remember that I have registered an account on that forum, did nothing, the next day I return to that forum and I got banned.

But blacklisting my IP address is harsh. All I get now is:

Sorry. The administrator has banned your IP address. To contact the administrator click here (http://forum.blu-ray.com/sendmessage.php)

And why do you care?

Let them have the troupe of yes-men they want :)

I've had a bad experience there before. Its just a big affiliate promoting site.

Seriously, do you expect any different? You're posting to a forum run by companies whose entire business model is built around ripping you off for every cent they can get from you legally -- and then every cent they can get illegally too. Do you think they care?

If you really want to post on a forum consisting entirely of industry shills, proxies are cheap. Go find one.

If God had intended us to have fixed IP addresses he wouldn't have invented free proxy servers.
Google search - free proxy. (http://www.google.com/search?q=free+proxie#hl=en&&sa=X&ei=ojPsTKeaLZHCvQPlzuDpAQ&ved=0CBIQvwUoAQ&q=free+proxy&spell=1&fp=b69933d19f024e3b)

My location uses "blucoat" filtering and such sites are listed as hacking or whatever. Can't go down that road.

I think I've been blacklisted at Fudzilla and I've never even posted under one of their articles before. It's a shame because I like reading tech articles in snippets (albeit being heavily biased).

Actually, Blu-ray.com is not run by the BDA - unless I've been misinformed.

This is 100% correct. I've now received confirmation that it was my signature (the same as this one) that proactively "promotes piracy" that was the reason.

Normally for a "1st offence" a stiff warning and censoring of the offending links would be the normal course of action in the "real world".
