Is there any program that can take a DVD and convert it to a computer file so it looks and plays like a dvd without actually having the hard disc. I mean still has the menus and special features like a normal DVD, but is now able to be kept on a hard drive as a DVD would be kept in a disc case? I am currently using AnyDVD and CloneDVD mobile to rip and then do a VOB passthrough, but I lose subtitles when needed and all the special features I sometimes want. Thanks.

Any decent decrypter (DVD Decrypter for most DVDs, but not the newer ones, or DVDFab HD Decrypter for the newer DVDs, plus some payware programs) can do this. Just put the entire DVD onto the hard drive. Then it can be played just as the DVD in the DVD-ROM or the standalone using PowerDVD or any other software DVD player. In your case, maybe AnyDVD plus DVD Decrypter should do the job.

This is hardly Advanced Authoring. Moving the thread to the Newbies Forum.

I use RipIt4Me (http://www.videohelp.com/tools/RipIt4Me).
Because it's not updated any more, every so often I come across a disc it won't do, but it rips 99% of them without a problem and it'll keep everything intact.
