What renderer does AvsPmod use and how can I know that the renderer is properly doing a YV12 -> RGB conversion and TV- -> PC levels on output?

Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but AFAIK it assumes your YV12 video is Rec 601 - i.e. TV range with 601 colors.
You can add ConvertToRGB24(matrix="rec709") or similar if you must have exact colors while previewing.
I'm not sure how good its chroma upsampling etc is... no idea actually :)

Is there a way to port EVR-CP or even better...madVR to render in AvsPmod?

AvsPmod does not use directshow to display.

Then what does it use and can it be "modded further" to have directshow rendering capabilities if wanted?

It probably uses GDI

No, it uses the DrawDib functions (part of VfW).
If the clip is not RGB32, it also adds a ConvertToRGB32() at the end for display. Thus any YUV to RGB conversion is done using Rec.601.
