avisource vs directshowsource

Hi,
a x264 encoder gui freezes when i open avisource script, but when i'm using directshowsource it start good the encode. I'm using ffdshow with no postprocesing efects. Is there a diference regarding the video quality between the to sources or is the same thing?

DSS is not frame accurate method, there are chances that you get a change in sequence of frames. DSS2 and ffms not give such bonuses.

So there is a problem in that GUI, if the AviSource() script opens fine in VirtualDub or MPC.

"DSS+convertfps=true" is frame-accurate, but DSS2 is not
(especifically, DSS2 either duplicated or dropped the last frame).

Well, virtual dub,megui and mpc open avs files with avisource(), x264launcher does not, i allready posted in x264launcher thread but no reply yet from the developer.

Well, my very first experience with x264launcher was also this: upon starting an(y) encoding, the whole thing hard freezed. Related, this was also my last experience with it ....

Apart from almost never using GUIs, I surely like Hybrid (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=153035). :)

In comparison DSS and DSS2 I do not see reason prefer DSS2 to case ASP-Codec/avi. But for AVC/avi (as for AVC/mp4-mkv) safer to use DSS2. Even if it would have to sacrifice the last frame, but it is a guarantee that the mounting investigations of Mr.DSS will not spoil produced videos, even if the produce marking the boundaries of the source.
By the way, some users report that DSS2 works best in conjunction with the CoreAVC Pro - does not skip frames.
