View Full Version : New DVD Output Option
JJB

I have looked forward for this option for sometime but I seem to have a problem with audio sync.
I have tried with pre-processed outputs from BDRB to AVCHD 5 and 9 with sync problems. The video is always outstanding.
I have done several full rips(from AnyDVD HD) and converted to DVD5/9 with the same results. The video is always outstanding.
I have never had a problem using BDRB to BD5/9 or BD25 at all.
I have tried this on 3 different computers with all out of sync.
I have tried DVD5 and 9.
The 2 videos are Toy Story 3 and no Country for Old Men.
Thanks!!

Thanks!! It would be helpful if you gave more information -- like logs and INF files. I've done "Toy Story 3" in my testing of the DVD output option and it worked fine. I'll try again.
What do you mean by "pre-processed outputs"? If I understand correctly you mean sources that have already been run through BD Rebuilder?
[edit] Also -- are you in a PAL region and are you using the "PAL output" option in SETUP?

The sync issues started about 15min into the film.

I hope these are the correct files as I have tried these 2 movies several times with the same result.
I suspect I just have something ticked wrong as I have not had a problem with BDRB since day 1 that was not self inflicted.
I am now trying Toy Story again from the original Blu-Ray.
The BD9 from the original played perfectly.
Thanks

Thanks There really is no relationship between BD-5/9 and DVD. The work is done in a completely different set of modules. It uses a completely different encoder and muxer.
It's really weird, though, that you seem to be doing the exact same disc as me -- and it's working fine here.

Sorry, I first reported this in the bug reports thread, but I have moved it to here. :o
I am running Toy Story 3 to alternate output DVD, and noticed the percent complete is currently at 176.44% and rising!
http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/4172/ts3bdrb3601.jpg
I will report back with my finished results. ;)
EDIT:
Finished at 4.07GB, plays back perfectly with PowerDVD on my PC, audio is in sync!
Another great feature jdobbs! :)
I will burn and test on my S360 just for conclusion.
Plays back perfectly on S360 and old and rarely used DVP-NS575P.

I just looked at it and it seems right -- but I'm pretty confident there's no such thing as having completed 176% of the work to be done... ;)

@JJB
"Toy Story 3" completed in perfect sync (from an original rip) for me. I'm running now with your INI replacing mine. Next I'll see what happens from a BD-RB preprocessed source. But, honestly, I'm not very confident either of these will change anything. I'm not sure where to go from there? Have you tried playback on a standalone DVD player? Some PCs don't do well with VOB playback.

jdobbs, I must apologize for a quick bug report when it was on my end.
I re-ripped both TS3 and OCFOM and both were fantastic as a DVD. Seems I had a drive that was failing that they were ripped to.
I also did Kung Fu Hustle and Silverado with no problems.
I did KFH in english and all Kung Fu pop's and smacks were in sync as was Silverado.
Sorry for the bad report.
Most likely something to do with Voodoo Chilli
Thank You Sir.
Case Closed.

Baliff, please escort everyone from the Court Room. That's great news. I was worried about that one...
On the positive side -- while looking for this one I found and fixed another bug that could make the audio silent or fail to encode when ALTERNATE OUTPUT was used at the same time the BD settings were set for "Keep HD Audio" and "BD-25".

I am a set and forget one click animal however I got frisky after some adult beverages and entered SHOW_ENCODER=1 on a conversion from BD5/9/25 to DVD and ended up with a small source mismatch between pass 1 and 2. Sometimes a Large mismatch.
Google is no help because all results is gibberish to a 1 clicker with 20 programs could be the problem.
I did play back of some of the crap that the kids' or grandkids watch and noticed a pixel problem sometimes.
A convert with Henc during DVD-Rebuilder Pro shows no mismatch.
I have tried on 3 computers with the same result about the mismatch.

I have tried on 3 computers with the same result about the mismatch. BD Rebuilder uses the exact same AVS and/or source file for each of the two passes. In fact, since HCENCODE does both passes from a single command line, BD-RB is actually just sitting and waiting for completion, so it's probably something internal to HCEncode. I'd recommend you replace HC Encoder with an earlier version and see if the same thing happens. I've never seen that warning myself.
Just an FYI, BD Rebuilder and DVD Rebuilder's inner workings have very little in common. One uses DGDECODE and the other uses DirectShowSource() so comparing the two really isn't applicable. They also use two different versions of HCENCODE (unless it has been manually replaced in DVD-RB).

I tried it with version 0.23 with the same results.
I also re-installed AviSynth from the 1st page as the googled results mentioned the problem might be that.
The DVD is quite watchable and none of the kids have complained as the pixels only happens once or twice that I have seen and is very fast.
Just a heads up in case it would create a hidden problem that would also need fixing.
Thanks!
