Varying variables

Is there any way to increment a variable while a script is running?

I am trying to create an effect where the frame moves during the video. I just want to increment an offset by a fraction of a pixel on each frame.

But nothing seems to work.

Perhaps what you want is Animate (http://avisynth.org/mediawiki/Animate).

I thought there was some weird syntax for arithmetic on variables I was missing
