If it's for video, try Super© by eRightSoft. Google for it.

Do not use "SUPER". It breaks existing Avisynth installations and triggers Windows' Data Execution Prevention (DEP) because it messes with system files. Also, Justin101 is an unrepentant spammer and his suggestion is crapware akin to the thousands of other ffmpeg ripoffs sold by companies incorporated in China.

A easy to use one with minimal installation would be handbrake, alternatively you can check out ripbot.

I'm running XP Home Edition SP3. Never had DEP and used SUPER for 2 to 3 years. No problems using current v2010.build.38.

Why not MeGUI? My favorite and great for most tasks.
You can find it here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/megui/files/megui-stable/0.3.5/

I'm running XP Home Edition SP3. Never had DEP and used SUPER for 2 to 3 years. No problems using current v2010.build.38.
SUPER used to overwrite all kinds of stuff with its own versions (avisynth, ac3filter - can't remember what else) and replaced some registry entries with completely incorrect values (avisynth plugin dir on x64 systems, for example). Not only on install, but on every start of the executable, even.
Not going to test if this has been fixed since 2009 (I'm not into testing malware intentionally).
So caution advised if you want to test SUPER and be prepared to fix your codecs after testing.

"Any Video Converter" is FREE video converter software can clip any segments and optionally merge and sort them to make a creative movie. And even more, Any Video Converter Freeware can crop frame size to remove any unwanted area in the frame just like a pair of smart scissors. Additionally, it gives you the ability to burn videos to CD, DVD and Blu-ray disc.

Most of video converters are shareware, which will leave a watermark on output files or have some other limitations.
However, free video converter is also available, such as format factory.
