Hi,

i have some questions concering DVD2SVCD which couldn't be answered in german forums yet.

Here are my questions:

1) In the "audio" tab there's an option to select the "tooLame mode". There are three possible options: Stereo, Dual Channel and Joint stereo. What are the differences between these three options?

2) What is the effect of "autodetect azid gain (2 pass)"? Shoud it be checked on?

3) In release 1.0.6 build 3 are three "resize methods" in the "frameserver" tab. What is the difference? Which one should be preffered to get best results?

4) What does the "temporal smoother" do?

5) Bitrate: There is a field "max bitrate". Is this the bitrate including audio (for exmaple 2400 kbps video + 192 kbps audio = 2592 kbps, which would be the entry in this field) or is this only the video bitrate?

6) CCE: What does the "anti noise filter" do? Which value should be set (or none?)?

Sorry for my poor english ;-) I hope, someone can answer my question.

Thanks a lot

Hi Franklin2K,

1), 2):
You will find the answer in the NewbieFAQ and the Q+A!

3):
That depends on your visual preferences. The fastest method is to use the "SimpleResize" that is nearly comparable with the "BicubicResize" but about 20% faster in encoding (with a little more Moiré in fine structures, search the forum for "SimpleResize" for more on that). Some say Bicubic(Simple) is sharpening the picture to much and they prefer the "BilinearResize" which renders the image softer so that e.g. Mosquito-Noise and Ghosting Artefacts are less outstanding.

4):
Temporal Smoother is some kind of filter that works on a time axis and detects noise that stretches over some frames. Mostly it helps with compression when doing a 1 Pass VBR or using CBR. So you don't have to use it when doing a 3-4 Pass VBR because the encoding speed will slow down by about 20% with it.

5) and 6):
Again, check the FAQs
