just having a few problems with 106 build 3 which i did not have with 106 build 2
just for trouble shooting purposes i was wondering why the default max and max ave bitrates have been changed and why the gap between them is smaller than previous builds ?

I was also wondering the samething...why is it changing from build to build?

There is a reason why you can change them! Anyway, what I do is when dvd2svcd is started the first time after an installation dvd2svcd looks at the audio bitrates. 2723 - Audiobitrate1 - Audiobitrate2(audiobitrate2 only if you use 2 audio streams) which equals the new Max. Bitrate. Then I set Max. Avg. Bitrate = Max. bitrate-150.

2723 is the max. total bitrate.

thanks
so no unusal reasons for the default changes then.
only raised the question as the defaults (and more specifically the gap) in the last few builds has been very good for my cce stablity :)

If you have problems, I recommend that you revert back to the bitrates that works for you.

dvd2svcd :) just to say that you are my GOD :)
I toght that Denmark was the capital of Belgium :) LOL just kidding :) Let me guess it was an american that said that :) right :)
I also heard that Portugal was in Africa our South America or even Asia :) Well but you know here in Portugal there is a saing that says that the Rulerz are the image of the people they rule. Well in this case the name Bush says everything :)

i have tried various bitrates in the new build and have found that they have greatly influenced cce's encoding time.
for example a 4 pass with the bitrates at 2480,300,2350 ran at about 0.899 in cce wheras changing this to 2450,300,2300 and 6 passes i get 1.34 in cce!!! and with those bitrates there is plenty of room left for nice quality audio. give em a try!

Hi jaay,

i gave them a try and for me nothing changed in encoding speed. Did you use the same movie(chapter(s)) for testing?

I can hardly believe in a speed gain of about 33% just by changing the default bitrates in CCE as i already tested this on my own when i realized the new higher default bitrates in Build 3. And from a programmer's point of view it shouldn't make any sense either as it should be easier for CCE to encode(compress) when using higher bitrates.

So are you really sure it was the exact same movie and settings and you didn't use the new SimpleResize by chance?

jaay why in the world would you ever use 6 pass VBR? Even the guys at CCE say that resolution maxes out at 3-4 passes.

I have noticed that bitrates can affect my CCE performance, but not by a great degree. If I use over 2500 max with anything over 2400 MAX AVG I will get a slight boost in speed.

33% increase just does not seem likely by just changing the bitrate that small amount. I have seen speed increases by changing what Resize method is used and by small tweaks in my computer.

Considering the vast amount of people using CCE and nobody has yet to get anywhere near the gains you speek of I tend to think it's not CCE that is giving you a boost, but rather your computer or method of encoding.

Remember that the default resize filter has changed in 1.06.3 to simple resize. This has shown to give up to a 15% increase in encode speed.

just telling u what it did, and i only used 6 pass for a try!i usuaully stick to 4.
