Did you check that the Ethernet connection between Router and Laptop is running in 100 MBit/s mode?

Assuming you are on Windows, simply check the network adapter's status:

Please follow Blue_MiSfit's suggestion and check how the transfer speed between Laptop and PC, both connected to the Router via Ethernet cable, is...

Also: Are you 100% sure your Laptop isn't connected via WLAN, maybe parallel to the Ethernet cable? If your Laptop has got a WLAN adapter, make sure that it is disabled!

Without knowing which model of laptop you have, it'd hard to guess whether it has a physical switch, a button, or only a keyboard shortcut (Fn+<one of the F-keys>).
Or open or Network Connections* (if you don't have a status-bar icon for the wlan connection) , right click on the right one and select Disable.

* assuming, of course, that you are using some recent enough version of Windows

If can't figure it out yourself, you don't have something like a user manual ???

There is sometimes a hardware switch or a key combination that can be pressed - usually the Fn key combined with something else.

Worst case, you can disable the WLAN in the network connections page (or disable it in the device manager)
