Making text readable

Hi guys,

Just a quick question. I've got this low quality film DVD I want eventually make a x264 copy of as a part of personal archive, and among many problems it has there's that text part on the intro which seems barely readable at all. And I've been wondering if AviSynth's endless magnificence could help me out with that.

Here is the sample file I managed to extract:

It probably would just be easier to use Aegis sub and create a subtitle track for the video, as text can be quiet hard to restore.
Then again if you just posted a screen that would be easier to tell, for people who do not want to download the sample.

Aye, I guess you're right. The old adage of a picture being worth a thousand words is very true here:

Actually, I was thinking about anti-aliasing/deinterlacing filters. Creating subs seems wise, but this is rather a workaround and not a real solution. Wouldn't need AviSynth for that anyway.

The main problem I see here is that its very blurry. Some sharpening would probably go quite a ways towards helping it.
