tsmuxer problems with high bit rate audio

My video is encoded at 40 MBs and I have created a 6 channel wav file, L, R, C, LFE, Ls, Rs which is 96kHz at 24-bits. When I use tsmuxer, the audio is terrible, it's like Rice Crispies, lots of snap crackle and pop. When I downsample and convert to 48kHz at 16-bit the audio plays fine.

According to bluray specification 96kHz/24-bit is legal for all 6 channels at a time.

tsmuser version 1.10.6
output TS muxing
bitrate is set at Mux VBR
VBV buffer size 500 ms

Do I need to change the Mux VBR setting? or the VBV buffer size? use different muxing software?

Any help appreciated.

I also tried 30MBs for the video with 6x 96/24 audio and got the same artifacts.

I was also thinking of using the bluray at a storage device to create an ultimate-def version and was able to encode the video at 80 MBs and play it back. It completely stressed out my computer but worked.

What is exatcly your settings of video? and is it AVC, MPEG2 or VC-1? You can't use high buffer model for video, you must reduce it.

I have made a similar project (maintaining bluray max bitrates) using tsMuxeR. TS plays fine in VLC and standalone player (but not in directshow players - Haali doesnt detect 96/24/5.1 lpcm).
PowerDVD cant play audio as TS or M2TS stream but plays fine muxed and played as bluray.
Muxing in Scenarist return same results.

Sounds familiar, I get similar results, VLC plays ok at max rates but media player classic chokes.

I was going to try Scenarist but the learning curve looks pretty steep. How quickly could you build a menu?

Video is set at 40MBs, with MPEG2.

What is a high buffer model? Do you mean bit rate? or are you suggesting changing the VBV values? I found using VLC seems to be a better player or at least non DirectX as suggested by bigotti5. The amount of snap, crackle and pop has greatly diminished.

I was able to burn a blu-ray with the following settings,
Video, mpeg2 @ 40MBs with
Audio, 6 channel of wav audio at 96/24bit.

Used PowerDVD 10 to play movie with no snap, crackles or pops.

Sound quality completely blows away DTS and Dolby.
