Will I gain any Quality converting VCD - SVCD? I know I probably should of saved my VOB files as I can't imagine getting any better quality converting from VCD to SVCD. I tried encoding about 5 minutes but didn't see a difference.

No you wont gain in quality..you might even lose quality ..what i go by is you really cant make conversion better then the source..you might be able 2 make it brighter or more color or whatever but in reality its not better..most likely will be the same or worse..

That makes sense. I should of kept the VOBs.

No, resulting MPEG file may be even worst because SVCD has a bigger resolution than VCD.
VCD > 352 x 240
SVCD > 480 x 480
When encoding from a lower resolution to a higher a lot of artifacts are created...

VCD (NTSC) is 352 x 240.
