BFF video - need to work with separate fields

I have bottom-field-first DV AVI and I need to separate fields, do some work with bottom field and again combine bottom and top fields into interlaced AVI. How to do that with AviSynth? I tried several methods using separatefields() but without luck... :(

bottom=SelectEven().whatever #filtering for bottom fields
top= SelectOdd().whatever #filtering for top fields
interleave(even,odd)
assumebff()
weave()
