Blu-ray TO MKV lossless no recoding quality 1:1

The aim is to get a MKV file with 1:1 quality by eliminating the superfluous and keeping only what interests the film, ie video, audio file and the file that contains forced subtitles should be automatically activated. Besides, when we insert the Blu-ray player in the forced subtitles are activated automatically, so I intend to faithfully fulfill this function for which the film was structured.

Required Software:
1- AnyDVDHD
2- Player software (PowerDVD10 o TMT3)
3- HD\BD StreamExtractor (is required Net Framework 4)
4- BDSup2Sub
5- MKVToolnix (mkvmerge)

Decrypted in a full Blu-ray HDD with AnyDVDHD

CHECK WITH PLAYER SOFTWARE
This is a preliminary check, but it already gives us a good indication if a forced subtitle, if any, is inserted in the same stream of other subtitles, or is an independent stream. Insert, if we removed, or we start the disc with the player and let's see if the subtitles are selected or not.

SUBTITLES NOT SELECTED BY PLAYER
In the options of players> Subtitles if is not selected any subtitle probably subtitles forced (if any) are in the file given to any other subtitles in this case there is a subtitle Italian so if they are forced into it. You may have situations where there may be 2, 3, 4 or more Subtitles are not selected , the concept does not change, if there is forced is contained within one of these.

SUBTITLE SELECTED BY PLAYER
In the options of players> Subtitles if is selected a subtitle, subtitles are in fact forced the stream which is selected independent (noting the location of subtitle).
In this example we see that there are highlighted the 3rd stream.

EXTRACTION OF STREAM (DEMUX)
We use HD \ BD StreamExtractor
Selecting the file index.bdmv (input) , destination folder (Output) and then press Features

Just uploaded the Blu-ray will have two large files, this indicates the presence of two movies, now you need to know which of the two streams is what interests us. If we are estended versions, the choice is easy, just select the movie with the life we want. But if we are not in the presence of extended versions, we must understand that the film is, in fact the example of Sherlock Holmes is the track is dedicated to the film but including comments and initial presentation. Then you need to extract the files and then view it and see if this is the right one, so I'm going to start with the file 00101.mpls (2:11:42)

Must be set in the "Extract As" the type of codec, setting "MKV" , then after selecting the destination path reward "Extract" . We can stop the procedure when we want, so we are interested in a piece to understand what it is.

When you extract the file, launch a player checking the content, in this case we have to do with the film said, and then stream that interests us is the other.

The stream that interests us is 00100.mpls (2:08:25), then click on this to display all its contents, which we will select only those that interest us.

Now select the streams (video, audio and subtitles) that interest us

Regarding the selection of the forced subtitles in this case we are lucky because we have been given the position by checking the player. This forced subtitles in separate streams, and in this instance appears to be the third subtitle as Fig. 6. In this example we have select the third subtitle stream corresponding to 26.

Now we must unite in a single MKV file via MKVToolnix mkvmerge-, press "add"

The analysis shows that this stream contains 91 forced [/ B], then is he what we wanted, [B] the first subsection, so now we know what subtitle to consider.

Now that we know with certainty what the subtitle file (Stream 1_9_subtitle) where those contents are forced, we must not do is extract them into separate file. So loading the file and by setting the same frame rate as source FPS.

This is what I found during the movie AVATAR (Italian)
I think the problem is due to some bugs, this problem shows some frames.

Have you used "MakeMKV" with any other Blu-ray titles? If so, did the .MKVs also exhibit this display timing glitch?

I ask because no such problem (regarding "Avatar" or any other Blu-ray title) has been posted at the "MakeMKV" forum)

I noticed this problem with Avatar, which was the first film created with Make MKV, not
I have seen other movies.

Again, however, that the problem not is for all the duration of the film, but only for some sequences it seems that the subtitles are not synchronized with the video frame.

MakeMKV is true that it's much easier to use, however some tools and testing the player is needed to understand what the single stream of forced subtitles or to find out what is in the stream with subforced integrated.

Using only MakeMKV this is not possible.

Some people prefer to do things in different ways.

This is an excellent guide and, imo you should keep the "makemkv" advertisements out of it.

Hi!

However, unless I'm misunderstanding or overlooking something, converting Blu-ray to .MKV is as simple using "MakeMKV" to decrypt the Blu-ray (NO need for AnyDVDHD or any other program), select the "movie-only" title and automatically identified forced subtitles (if any) and click on the "Convert" icon...

Well as far as I've experienced MakeMKV is not entirely freeware, last week or so I wanted to rip a title but it didn't work because the program said something like "Trial period expired", and it refused to rip. It did the same on an older title I tested afterwards.

'twas a MKB 17 Blu-ray, DVDFab HD Passkey handled it well (free for limited time also).

Hi!

As far as I know, it's still in beta and available free of charge. While in beta, it requires that you download a new free key approximately every 30 days. I believe you can obtain the key at the following link to the "MakeMKV" website:

BTW It presently handles all existing MKBs (as do DVDFab Passkey and AnyDVDHD)

You are right, I can confirm this does indeed work (inserting a beta key) :)

I'm not an every day MakeMKV user (I buy maybe 1-2 Blu-ray's a month), it did not state on the main website a beta key can be obtained from the forums (OK maybe it's buried in the FAQ somewhere but I didn't read that far, anyway it's not advertized like "Get your beta key from the forum now!" :) ) so I figured it just expired and never checked the forums.

SUBTITLES OVER 32 (Case 3)
In the options of player> subtitles, if they are more than 32 stream, subtitles are in text format allocated more files. BDMV m2ts in the path \STREAM.
So far I happened to notice only Universal has adopted this Authoryng, "tortuous"scattered all subtitles (from 33 th onwards) in different m2ts file.
Note the number of streams selected for easier search later.

As you can see the files concerned are 00003.m2ts, and 00014.m2ts 00034.m2ts, and we write these values on a notepad or wherever we want.

Now we copy the compressed file Tool stream phantom.rar under the STREAM of the BD, then extract the contents.

With button right-click> context menu> Edit commandline.bat, and you open the text file in which we add the stream reported with BDEdit after the textST.exe

As in the example:

Then double click on commandline.bat, after a few seconds of processing their files appear in srt format

Opening each file ".srt" with Notepad, verify that the file 00003.m2ts.srt and 00014.m2ts.srt refer to the comments of the director.

To make the automatic correction of the text file, we use Subtitle Edit, so we load our file and then srt

Now we can perform format conversion tool with the PGS goSUP.
By setting the vertical height "Bottom", as well as controlling the rest.
To get an idea of the values of Bottom, it is advisable to make a comparison with a file full subtitle support, extracted with BDExtractor.
This is to know whether a particular frame in the caption should be placed above or below.
In fact, there are subtitles embedded in the image in its original format, in order to avoid overlapping.

Once you have the file extension with PGS. sup, we can check with BDSup2Sub
If we leave the default goSUP Bottom = 45, without adjusting the vertical height of these values we get

If goSUP Set a value for Bottom = 100, we get the value of the vertical as it should be, we can verify this by comparing it with the file extracted directly sup with BDExtractor.

textST (CLI) (630KB) self extractable 7z archive (contains calclib.dll and textST.exe), or if you're using multiAVCHD then you can download just the executable textST.exe (80kb) and put it in your multiAVCHD folder.
