How can I convert a .sup file?

Hi!

I want to rip subtitles from a Blu-Ray movie. Can anyone help me?

- I ripped the blu-ray using DVDFAB
- I ended up with thrity-four M2TS files, which I joined with TSRemux
- I then demuxed the .sup file

So what should I do now? SubRip doesn't support .sup,and SubtitleCreator won't open the file, because the file would be damaged. I don't care what the output file is like, if I end up with an IDX file, I could always use SubRip to make an SRT file, but is there any program that can convert .sup files?

you have to convert the image data (sup's are in some kind of image format) into text data(manually or via OCR). This text data you can convert into SRT or something of your choice.

If you want to recode the whole thing into Mpeg2 (DVD) again, it wouldn't make sense to convert the sup's at all - it would be better to rip them off and put it into the new DVD without recoding.

P.S. If you have made SRT Files in a certain language, then please do not forget releasing them, because you are not the only person on this planet, who is in the need of Subtitles. Often you can load somewhere in the internet ready-made SRT Files to your BluRay. In that case ripping them again is not logical, because you make an effort, someone has done before you. Often it stretches nerves, when you have to Rip the SUP's manually (which is most often the case, when you haven't got OCR software).

In the red couloured step you ripped the subtitles.

You can either use the .sup themselves (using mplayer or ffdshow), convert them to .sub/.idx (lose resolution) or convert them to .srt using SupRip.

After reading other posts belonging to the OP (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=150641), it became clear that he needs text subtitles.

Suprip should do in this case the trick.
