View Full Version : Get Handbrake (Quicktime format) chapters to show up in Media Center?

I use Handbrake 0.9.4 and I'm really liking the quality and the space savings so I went a little wild with converting my rips and deleting the originals before testing in all my players. The chapters work fine in Media Player Classic and VLC player but Vista (SP1) Media Center acts like the chapters aren't even there - as usual, pressing next just jumps forward no more 30 seconds or so.

I use the Regular>Normal preset and save as MKV (I get better playback that way) but with chapters, and I usually set the audio and subtitles manually.

Is there a plugin for Media Center, or a way to use a different rendering engine or whatever within Media Center, so I can use the chapters I'm including in my compressions? From what I've read, I think they're some kind of Quicktime format or something.

Thanks.

Okay, so chapters and subtitles of files created by Handbrake DO NOT SHOW UP in Media Player 11 or Media Center. Got that sorted out. They might stop touting it as something that produces files that actually WORK in MP 11 or Media Center, but that's their business.

What are my alternatives? I want to get all that bloat off my hard drives and if Handbrake hadn't chosen to exclusively support the Apple chapter format, or if Microsoft had chosen to give a darn, I would've been great with Handbrake because it was very easy to use, fast enough for me, I liked the quality, and loved the space savings.

Is there anything easy to use that gives similar results, but with chapters Microsoft wares actually supports?

This should probably be posted here (http://forum.doom9.org/forumdisplay.php?f=78) as I doubt changing the MS player behaviour is an option.
