So there seems to be a pervasive flaw in how bluray rips are being done. At least from what I can tell as just a consumer, there's a lot of black frames (measured into the seconds commonly and I've even seen 10s of seconds) at the end of every encode.

Relatedly, it also seems that the encodes are being made to a common time length (for episodes of a tv show) many times which is perhaps why there are the black frames at the end (as the episodes don't have a common time length). From my long experience of making my own DVD rips for myself, I've never seen this as a problem with DVD based content, wondering what's causing it for bluray content.

wondering if anyone else has noticed this and if this is a problem with the tooling or if people just don't know how to do it correctly?
