H.264 intra chroma DC prediction

Hi,

The standard seems to specify H.264 intra chroma DC prediction for 4x4 blocks.
Do I understand that correctly or is it possible to do the prediction using 8x8 neighborhood of the two 8x8 chroma blocks?
