This may not be the correct place t post this but it is an audio issue mainly. I have a dvd that spans 2 discs that i want to rip into 1 xvid avi. I tried it twice once creating a custom IFO after renaming all the VOBs so they are in order as if they came from one source. Then i encoded everything using AutoGK. The first half is fine but once it gets to the area where the second disc starts the audio is out of sync. I then tried regular gordian knot thinking if i had more control i could fix this. The same thing happened. I assumed that combining all the vobs and renaming them in order would make whatever software i used look at it as it came from one dvd and it should work but this doesn't seem to be the case. Is there a trick to ripping 2 part dvds? I googled for a while but can't seem to find anyone else trying to do this.

No, it's actually DVD authoring.

It concerns "joining two DVDs", which subject has been already treated, use search on this subject, also have a look on LOTR (lord of the rings) issue, also discussed within these terms.

Once correctly joined you can use whatever you like to convert it to xvid.

You could try to ProjectX, in StaxRip launch it at Tools > Launch > ProjectX.
Drag the VOB files on the file table tab and click the quickstart button, this should create separate audio ,video and subtitle files all perfectly synced.
