DVD to mkv (x264/h264)

Hi, Some newbie help...
I'm looking for a application that can convert dvd to mkv (x624/h264).

If anyone has some experience about a great application I would be happy!
It doesn't matter if it cost a couple of bucks, I will gladely pay if it's great app.
I'm rather tired to install and test application, so far I have been through a couple of commercial ones without to find a good one.

Preferences I looking for:
DVD to mkv (x264/h264).
Blueray to mkv (not necessary but it's nice if that's included)
Subtitles (possible to select one or all).
Audion tracks (possible to select one or all).
One setup file (that includes everything)
"One click" (easy to convert)

Welcome to the forum! You can try Handbrake, HDConvertToX, StaxRip, RipBot264 and MeGUI, in StaxRip guides can be found from the main menu at Help > Guides, HDConvertToX has a tutorial included and for the others it should be easy to find guides with google. Good luck.

By all means, try "MakeMKV" - It suits your stated needs to a tee ;>}

MakeMKV rocks no question but I think he want to shrink using x264.

You are correct - I overlooked that.

But in this day and age of extremely cheap memory, drives, etc., who would want to bother compressing DVDs?

Somehow similar question to why would somebody want to bother burning. :D
