PAL DVD with Menus to NTSC

I have a folder of DVD files that are in the PAL format, 25fps. I used Procoder 3 to process the folder to NTSC 720X480 29.97 fps. Only problem is that Procoder 3 ignored the menus and didn't include them in the output.

This is a DVD made from a sporting event in Europe and the menu is used so you can select any of the 7 days of the event. How do i get procoder3 to process the menu and video, The DVD works very well in PAL format, but Procoder just overlooked the menus.

I have been doing some reading and I understand to reauthor the menus is quite difficult. I just assumed Procoder 3 sicne it is a professional too would do this automatically and not ignor them.

Professional means something else, it has more to do with reliability than with features or amateur use. It's not that kind of "professional tool" one buys it for 20$ at Walmart. Sorry. In this case, procoder (I use procoder) does one thing only, encodes the video. Authoring is another issue, the pros do this after encoding the sources (according to the bit budget). Standard converting is not done in any pro software I know because it is supposed that you have the right sources.

While there's no easy way to change the TV system, this can still be done (this is how US series reached Europe). If your menus are static (no movie) then you can use one of the stickies to replace the menus with NTSC ones (lil'bit of work needed, obtain the "layers" and resize them). If they are movies, then you need to convert them to NTSC too (demux them beforehand), then a similar approach is needed.

Thanks, i have done menu creation from scratch with a pic sized at 720X480 and used Vobblanker, Muxman, and had some help from the author of PGCEdit. It was quite a bit of work and I was thining that Procoder 3 would handle the job.

I agree with what you say about Prpocoder not being full on authoring software but an encoder. However, it will author VOB files from a single .avi,.mov. or .mpg I hoped it could handle .mkv but it doens't deal with menus.
