Hey guys/girls,

I just ripped a DVD of my first bodybuilding competition onto my computer (AVI) and wanted to upload some sections of it onto Youtube. Unfortunatly Youtube only accepts clips 10 minutes in duration or less and mine are...a bit longer.

I just installed Virtual Dub and tried to import one of the files in an attempt cut it in half to create two smaller ones (roughly 9 minutes each).

Unfortunatly I got an error message reading...

"MPEG Import Filter: invalid pack at position 3: marker bit not set; possibly MPEG-2 stream"

When it comes to computers, I make a good gym junkie, so any help would be much appreciated!

Btw, if anyones interested I have managed to upload two of my clips onto Youtube. I'm competitor number 18, Michael Greenwood (in the blue trunks).

Here's my division: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DbKZ0zAzBA

and here's the men's overalls: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gEZ_mq7FJo&feature=related

Thanks!
Michael

awesome, thanks. :)

Edit: Getting another error now. After loading the clip I successfully used the slider to the half way point to cut the clip in half, but when I went to save the first half of the clip I got an error message reading...

"The source video stream uses a compression algorithm which is not compatible with AVI files. Direct stream copy cannot be used with this video stream."

So I tried not using the direct stream and it worked, except my 10 or so minute video clip was about 150gb, which is obviously a load of crap!

Please help :)

Thanks,
Michael

1. Use DGIndex to load the VOBs and cut the segment you need. It will also demux the audio and create a AVISynth script for you.

2. Load the script into VirtualDub and make you AVI.

That's because you converted it to an uncompressed format. You have to use an encoder like Xvid or Divx.
