Do slow settings with large file size make sense?

Do slow settings with large file size make sense? Like 1080p at 20 Mbps using preset veryslow? Would it look much different then preset veryfast?

I don't know how much can be different from preset veryslow to veryfast, anyway I think it makes sense for high quality, considering that sometimes for particular footage even 35 Mbps (avg, with veryslow) isn't enough to give 'visually lossless' results.

In the case of BluRay, sure! Those short GOPs hurt, as can VBV sometimes.

Hard to say of course. I'm surprised how good --preset veryfast looks, all things considered - so it's all subjective!
