I have an extra 500G Seagate Hd from a junked computer, works fine, (used it as an external on another computer) , I am trying to replace 160G Hd on one of my computers. I formatted the drive installed it, went into Bios, did the Auto detect and rebooted, I get this message."Verifying Dmi Pool Data". nothing follows, can anyone help, I don't know what steps I am missing. If the 500gb drive is a Seagate 7200.11 model... it may be one affected by the firmware error that bricked the drive. Once bricked they're ***** to put it nicely! Just google:
seagate error
7200.11
seagate bricked
or anything along those lines and you'll find lots of information regarding it.
It might not have anything to do with that, but its still something people aren't aware of even now until it happens to them.

Reboot again, the DMI pool data should have been updated. If not then it's a configuration problem.

verify that everything is connected properly - weird problems are usually related to cables (sockets, plugs etc)

Thanks all for the replies, someone offered a way to clone the existing HDD to the new one, worked.
