Hi, I have been trying to convert a DVD of Star Trek The Next Generation to MKV which DVDfab had trouble with one episode as it spent hours but never started or finished. Is there any other good software for converting DVD to MKV. Thanks in advance

Try ripping to the harddrive first with AnyDVD.

@cpthooker

Hi!

Just use MakeMKV DIRECTLY (NO other software required) to both rip and convert to MKV...

Unfortunatly MakeMKV didn't solve the problem as I tried an episode on my bluray player and all I got was audio and no video. I tried Forteen88's suggestion and also updated DVDfab and it still doesn't like one particular episode

I tried an episode on my bluray player and all I got was audio and no videoYou started this thread asking how to convert DVD files to MKVs.

You are now talking about these newly created .MKV files not playing on your BluRay player.

1) What is the brand and model number of your BluRay player?

2) Do you know for a fact, that your BluRay player is capable of properly playing .MKVs in general?

3) If so, do you know what specific video formats (within .MKVs) it's capable of processing properly?

4) Have you successfully done this before, including playback on your BluRay player?

Yes I do know that my player can read mkv files. I have managed to work it out by using Ripbot264, sorry to have wasted your time
