Hi
I try BeSweet1.1b2 and there is the report:
=============================
1) When use smartripper *.lst in input and -gain max in azid, besweet look for max gain in only first vob. There was CRC errors (I demux the same ac3 with vstrip without errors!).

3) an option required: is it possible to do with besweet just an overflow log, something like with command

azid.exe -c normal -g20.0db -L -3db -N ita.ac3 ita.wav >azidlog1.txt |sort /+39 /R
maybe the log file will be like this:

Downmix overflow +8.0dB = 0,2% (10 times)
Downmix overflow +7.3dB = 0,5% (24 times)
Downmix overflow +6.0dB = 1,0% (60 times)
... and so on

Hope this help and
Thanks for Besweet

hi damjang !
thank you for all the info :).
today i will be releasing v1.1.
v1.1 offers calculation of max gain for a whole list.
no overflows will occur when using the -ota( -g max ).
and EVEN if an overflow occurs, BeSweet will continue, unless you specify it to stop. (new switch ;))

about the crc errors,
make sure you're using the 45k vstrip.dll and not the one that supplied with the package.

about your last request :
what would be the use of this if BeSweet can calculate the max gain for a list ?

Where can I find it?

Because I manualy chose the gain after I "analyze" the list... because if I use -g max the volume is too low. I can gain up over some little overflow.

BTW what is the difference between -g max in azid and ota?
Is possible to use "--alt-preset <bitrate>" or "--alt-preset cbr <bitrate>" with your new lame_enc.dll?

download it from doom9 (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Rippers/vStrip_08d_css.zip), and rename to vstrip.dll .

this combination will result with gain of max+1db ;).
you should also consider boosting.

BTW what is the difference between -g max in azid and ota?starting v1.1, -ota( -g max ) is an implemention of a smart-normalizer i've created. -ota will acheive better gain than -azid withoUt distorting the signal.

Is possible to use "--alt-preset <bitrate>" or "--alt-preset cbr <bitrate>" with your new lame_enc.dll?

damjang
not yet.
pay attention that i compiled a new dll today, and it's different than the one on my site right now.

just wait for v1.1 ... :cool:

The OTA parameters in the Batch Mode Setup of BeSweetGUI v0.6b15 affect the whole list I think.

But: does the -ota (-g max) find the overall LIST max gain factor or different max gain factors for each list element? (using BeSweet 1.1b3)

DSPguru
1st February 2002, 14:11
it finds the overall factor for the whole list.

Bernd

BeSweet 1.1b2 crashes under Win2k.

BeSweet 1.0 works, but no overall list gain factor ...

Waiting for 1.1 ... :)

OK, it's already there... should have looked before posting...

@damjang,
do you still get crc errors with the neW dll ?

@Bernd,
do you still get crashes under windows 2k ?

btw, v1.11 is up.

Bernd
2nd February 2002, 12:49
@DSPguru,
no, it doesn't crash any more. :)

But, doing a batch conversion with the ota gain max option, still every ac3 file is normalized separately, no overall list gain factor...

Am I doing something wrong? (I use GUI 0.6b15) :confused:

DSPguru
2nd February 2002, 12:56
yes, the gui doesn't support this yet.
use the GUI to create a list file, and make sure that "-azid( -g max )" isn't used, (it will create ~temp.lst), then use the GUI again, and set the input file to "~temp.lst", and select the ota auto gain.

Bernd
2nd February 2002, 13:00
thx a lot,
will try it now. Great thing, your program! And this forum as well!
:) :)

Bernd

use the GUI to create a list file, and make sure that "-azid( -g max )" isn't used, (it will create ~temp.lst),

... I can't find the lst file (searched my whole hdds). Just a tmp file is created by the GUI (but this is not ascii).

I use the batch mode, drag and drop my ac3s into the list window and then I don't know how to get the corresponding lst file. OK, I can create it in a text editor, but, when I got you right the GUI will do this. I'm :confused:

Hi Bernd,
Creating a list file is a very easy task.
check this example (http://dspguru.notrace.dk/list2.html).
and there's also a more complicated syntax for lists, here's an example (http://dspguru.notrace.dk/list1.html).

Cheers :)

@Dspguru I must be a dumbass but i keep getting this error:
Error 61: Preset isn't supported by current version of lame_enc.dll :-(

i downloaded version 1.11 from your site, i'm guessing it doesn't contain the new lamenc.dll or am i making an error in my commandline?

i'm using:
BeSweet\BeSweet.exe -core( -input "%1vob.lst" -output "%1audio.mp3" -substream 0x8%3 -logfilea "%1noclog.txt" ) -ota( -d auto ) -azid( -z1 -b1 -M1 -s surround -d 2/0 -c normal -L -3db -g max -f1 ) -lame( --alt-preset %2 )

where %1 = my path, %2= Bitrate, %3=streamnumber

if i change the --alt-preset to -b it works like a charm..

i love your proggie especially for the commandline functionality and till version 1.11 i was running the older 0.95 version wich gave me no sync problems, this works perfectly in 1.11 exept the --alt-preset

DSPguru
2nd February 2002, 21:04
Hi Nocturno,
if you read KnownIssues.txt you'll see that the current lame_enc.dll doesn't support abr --alt-presets.

I only added standard/fast/extreme/insane to lame_enc.dll at the moment.

I would be grateful if you could test the supported presets and give feedbeck.

Dg.

Nocturno

@dspguru

tested the --alt-preset standard
it gave 7 E7: CRC errors and 11 downmix overflows (using the string in my last post but with the correct alt-preset settings) i used the vstrip dll from doom9's site

sounded ok though.. running fast standard now.. will test extreme and insane later

DSPguru
3rd February 2002, 17:55
@Nocturno
one thing at a time :
- as you know, --alt-presets got nothing to do with azid decoding.
- crc errors : could be a badly ripped stream. mayB u should try extracting the ac3 with another proggy. (or try to let BeSweet handle the vob itself).
- the overflows could be created by the crc errors. generally, to avoid overflows, use the new smart normalizer -ota( -g max ) , instead of the old -azid( -g max ) engine.

now, what was the results with the presets tests ? my tests shows that BeSweet v1.11 achieves the exactly same size of mp3 as lame.exe .

Yes, I try BeSweet1.1 with the vstrip.dll from doom and the crc errors are always here. I listen to output file at suspicious positions but it's ok. Like I say in first post with vstrip.exe there was not errors (I suppose because I have no output in the gui). I noted that the CRC error was at the start of the vobs (see my first post log).

I must try BeSweet1.11 ...

I'm trying 1.11 with the new vstrip.dll as well, using besweet to extract the ac3 directly from the vob's off the DVD and I have around 10 E7: CRC error's as well.

Command line is pretty much the same:
-core ( -input dvd.lst -output audio.mp3 -substream 0x80 ) -azid( -z1 -b1 -M1 -s surround -d 2/0 -c normal) -lame (-b 128) -ota( -d auto) -boost( /b=5 /l=0.95 )

Huge
4th February 2002, 22:48
Using the OTA command also seems to be quieter than azid's -g max even using boost....
Why might that be?

DSPguru
5th February 2002, 08:13
@damjang, @Huge,
the question is :
if you extract the ac3 stream with vstrip_gui, and then input it to BeSweet will the crc errors disappear ?

@Huge
please compare the two gain methods without boosting.

Huge
5th February 2002, 08:49
OK - I'll try without and without boost and get back. How can I use these new LAME presets? Do I need a newer version of BeSweet than 1.11?

DSPguru
5th February 2002, 18:01
here's the full list of the supported alt-presets in v1.11 :
--alt-preset insane
--alt-preset standard
--alt-preset extreme
--alt-preset fast standard
--alt-preset fast extreme

Yes. I try to convert the vstrip_gui extracted ac3 to mp3 with besweet1.11 and there were no crc errors.

damjang could you extract the ac3 stream with BeSweet using the "-payload" switch, and compare the two ac3 streams ?
