remux SD PIP from HD-DVD into BD?

I've been purchasing a few very cheap, new-in-the-wrapper HD-DVDs when possible and ripping/demuxing/remuxing into BD-compliant formats using eac3to (HD-DVD/BD Stream Extractor) and tsmuxer(gui). I've not been able to find a way to include the PIP video track (always standard-def, from what I've seen) into the BD remux in a way that will actually play back on a PS3 or Sony BDP-350. I've tried searching and haven't been able to find this, though I feel it's surely been asked before. I would be happy to have an option to mux the secondary video track as an alternate-angle track as opposed to true PIP, but I don't know if that's possible with available muxers, or if the BD specs even allow for alternate angle tracks with resolution different from the primary HD video track.
Any information is appreciated.

Not sure I've heard of anyone even trying it... Theoretically, I don't see why it wouldn't be possible... PIP audio for blu-ray has to be encoded as secondary audio, so you would have to add the PIP audio as secondary audio track on the feature, and just select it that way (I'm not sure how PIP audio was encoded for HD DVD). Unless you have an encoder that does PIP audio...

If you are converting your feature video to 1080p from 1080i, then you would have to do the same with the PIP video.

But, I don't know of any tools that can do it other than something like Scenarist (and it may not take the video streams if they are aren't 100% blu-ray compliant...) If some of the other remuxing tools can do it, someone will probably chime in...

Thanks for the thoughts. I don't have access to any pro BD tools like Scenarist, so was mainly wondering if there is any straight-forward or even round-about-and-tricky way to get the original PIP video/audio working on the BD remux in some way with free software.

About PIP and PS3/Sony - tsMuxeR supports secondary video (PIP) but not when using the GUI. It is possible to do it 'command-line'+meta with ", secondary" added to the PIP video track line.

I guess multiAVCHD would allow you to play it as a separate title, but probably that's not what you're looking for.

Thanks, deank. Between your comment above, this post regarding the command-line/meta usage (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1092138#post1092138), and the gui's display of the meta file output, I think I'll be able to figure it out now. :)

:) Have in mind that PS3 will not honor PIP if you use DVD media or USB HDD (or AVCHD format for that matter), but all should be okay with BD25/BD50 discs.

Thanks for the heads-up. I generally use BD25s these days, and I'll be testing my first attempt on a BD-RE in case I somehow mess it up.

If you can test with BD25 and PIP for Playstation3, please post back - I may add it to multiAVCHD for Blu-ray mode.
