why is there such a difference in filesize? listening to both files they sound exactly the same to me. both use 3.91 lame. which do you consider to be the better method? besweet definately does the job faster, but traditional gets a smaller filesize.
traditional method: rip then decode to wav using dvd2avi wth 80% normalize. use normalize 0.24 and increase 6db. encode using lame/razorlame with using settings:
lame -b 64 -m j -V 5 -B 224 --lowpass 18.5
filesize = 19.2megs
besweet: decode vob's with 2/0, 6db gain. encode using settings:
besweet -core( -input "vts_05_1.vob" -output "may08.mp3" -substream 0x81 ) -azid( -z1 -b1 -s surround -d 2/0 -g max ) -lame( -m j -v --vbr-new -V 5 -b 64 -B 224 --lowpass 18.5 )
filesize = 22.1megs
