I'm getting more than double the customary re-encoding speed for a BD-9 (63 fps) since switching to BD-RB 34.04. Is the new version of x264 (r1666) solely responsible for this?

I certainly haven't seen anything like that. Are you sure it's not just an anomalous stream?

Found the reason: I've been experimenting with different builds of ffdshow. The current one is ffdshow tryout rev3488 sse icl11. The source video is AVC and the ffdshow decoder setting for this is set to ffmpeg-mt. I know this is not recommended, but I use it on non-critical encodes. Interesting though.

actually if you run inspect.exe you'll see that the ffmpeg-mt is an approved setting. That one supports multi threading and is likely the cause of increased recoding speed. However your ffdshow build is not recommended. jdobbs won't accept logfile for errors that are generated with non-approved builds

Thanks! I was able to download an approved version now Inspect is happy.
