View Full Version : Fading Bitrate

Greetings experts!

I've got a problem with VirtualDub. Whenever I compress the audio part of an avi-file to MP3-format previously created with flaskMPEG the bitrate of this new avi is reduced to about one third of the original. VirtualDub is ordered to do only a direct stream copy of the video-data. So, what the hell is wrong with VD? Please give me some hints.

If you use explorer properties to find the bitrate of the video I think it reports the total bitrate and not only video bitrate. Check the two files again: Does the decline in video bitrate equal the decline in bitrate of audio? If so then rest assured nothing has happened to the video and that the error is in Windooze and not VD.

I know what you mean, but the second file is much too small and the decrease in video quality is definitely obvious.
This "incident" does not occur regularly, but too often to be just a quirk. In the last weeks I had problems with Episode I, Dogma and Rush Hour. X-Men and Miss Congeniality showed up no problems.
As far as I know, I didn't change the settings, but my problems appeared since I changed to VD 1.4.7 and used the volume amplification option.
So, there must be another solution, but thanks for thinking about my problem.

-You can switch back to the old version of VDub
-Use besweet (I recommend not to use flask) and nandub
