Secondary Nvidia GPU for DG NV

Hi All,

I have an ATI HD4850 as my primary GPU which I really cannot afford to replace at the moment with an equivalent spec Nvidia GPU.

I have found a G210 card for £30 which is within my budget but won't be up to spec for my gaming needs.

So, is it possible to keep the ATI as my primary GPU for normal and gaming use and also have the G210 installed as a secondary GPU for use with CUDA / DG NV?

Yes, it is possible. If you have Vista/Win7 it is easy. If you have XP you may need to jump through a hoop. Use search; it has been discussed.

Next question, £30 is for 512MB and I can get 1GB for £45

Will double the RAM make any difference to x264 encoding of 1080p sources?

You'll be able to open more simultaneous instances of DGMultiDecode(). I'd go for it if you're not in the breadline.

I suggest you to get the 1GB card since it seams CUVID has an annoying memory leak but with 1GB cards the effects are mitigated.

in theory, no. coz PCI express 16x cards can be inserted in 4x slots too (look at the connector)
