I have just noticed that as of 2.5.3 - 6161 that there is now an SDK available. Is there any direct information on what the sdk can be used to develop with avidemux.

The SDK can be used to develop Avidemux plugins !?

Did you actually look into the ZIP file? There even are various example plugins included...
