Hi. I really like the idea of the WD TV Live. But I'd like to know what you guys think about it. Mainly, I'd like to know if anyone would recommend that I buy this, or wait for some other up-and-coming media center. This one retails at $150, which is great. But I heard that it has problems playing back HD media. I'm like 90% sure I want to get one at this point.
Oh, and does anyone know which would work better with this player, if any: xvid or divx compressed video?

Never had problems with hd content here. Works great with WDTV Live. And also works great with my older WDTV :cool:

I heard that HD playback was glitchy. It's good to hear that you guys didn't have the same problems.

Hmm, weird, I bought one and playback of many hd files was iffy. I had to return it after starting off with high hopes...interesting others are having a much better experience...

Bought the $99 one, the second generation regular one about a week ago and it's awesome. Clear HD video and great audio on 720p mkvs so far, yet to try 1080 just yet.....

it seams that cinavia is included in this NMT!
see this (http://community.wdc.com/t5/General-Discussions/Cinavia-DRM/m-p/32800)...

@b66pak
Although it may very well prove to be more pervasive, the dialog at the link you've provided appears to be regarding an "other-than-legitimate" rip ("Repo Man" Bluray is scheduled for release on 7/27/10) - my point being that until there are confirmed reports of "cinavia protection" appearing upon playback of legitimate BluRays, this "new watermark protection" may prove to be limited to files for which the original source material is a "cam"...

the device supports netflix and for that cinavia is mandatory!!!

the topic is about "should i buy or not?"
in this context i mentioned cinavia...
i found that early warnings are much better instead of later regrets...

@~bt~
Thanks - that sure looks like the concern about "Cinavia" protection on the WDTVLive is a red herring!
