View Full Version : .avi -> DVD?

Hey all,

Long story short: I've got an .avi I want to convert and burn to a DVD so I can play it in typical DVD players (not as a DivX or other version).

Long story long: I often go in-and-out of the ripping/en/decoding and whatnot, so I usually forget and have to relearn anytime I want to rip movies to .avi's. But I've run into an issue I didn't have before. And since I haven't messed with anything for about a year (with Gordian Knot), I'm lost again.
My situation is this: A few years back I ripped some of my movies and put them on my mp3 player in .avi form. Very crappy copies, since the screen is about 2"... but recently one of my movies disappeared (hubby let his friend borrow it, then the friend PCS'd). I was wondering if there's a way to take the .avi and turn it back into a DVD? I know it'll be horrible quality, but it's better than just having a case without a DVD inside.

So, can someone just point me to which program will do this for me? Thanks in advance!

Under certain jurisdictions it would be legal to download the missing movie, provided you can prove you bought it legally. Ask your legal adviser.

Or simply force your friend to buy you another copy of the movie. It's his/her fault anyway

PS: nowadays there's really really hard to find a DVD player that cannot do divx.

One option is DVDFlick.

Heh, yeah... but I've *got* the .avi right here... And I don't know if owning the case of a movie counts as any legality. :D

I'll check out DVDFlick. Thanks both for the ideas... I might try to do a divx disc. I'm pretty sure it'll play it, just in the past I've had a lot of issues with them (other people burned them though).

There are a few options in the stickies in the One Click forum, including those already mentioned here.
